Premiere: Night Lunch China Tour Doco

Touring is ephemeral. Gigs, soundchecks, trains, cars, meals, sights, sounds, people, dogs, jokes, laughing, crying, exhaustion, sickness, emotional highs & lows, piss, shit, sickness, banter, unity and purpose, with the sole goal of bringing noise to new spaces, to yell into the void to see if it speaks back.

Like any travel experience, the magnitude and intensity feels like a fever dream once its over. How can we possible describe it? Luckily for us, the tour doco is here.

Filmed with a Sony handycam by Laura Monaghan (merch girl extrordinaire), edited and produced by Liam Hoffman, (drummer, designer and architect of Night Lunch’s visual world) this 35-minute gonzo documentary comes to your screens just a month after the Night Lunch x Crime Hospital x Kaishandao China tour.

From darkened club dancefloors to specced out livehouses. Beachside brides. Aerial goddesses. Illuminated mountains. Curious crowds. Stinky hotel rooms. Broken bass strings. Soaked hi-vis vests. Animalistic behaviours. Resuscitated drum samplers. Sky towers and high rises. Friends and freakouts. Randomness embraced.

Trips blasting between shows at 300kmph, traversing landscapes and mountains and railway stations with cases full of instruments and merch, eyes open, stomachs eager for the next. Playing music for people and developing our crafts side by side. These are the experiences that make us feel alive.

Here is an offering into our collective experience.
I am so proud to have been part of this.
